Outward Processing

It is with much excitement that we send you this notice. After several years of lobbying the Federal Government with the Canadian Textile Institute and our partners in the Textile Industry, CANADA has now introduced a tariff relief law in the form of Outward Processing (OP). This tariff relief program went into effect on May 1st, 2008.

What is Outward Processing? OP is essentially a duty relief program for all apparel imported into Canada which is made using Canadian content in the form of Canadian manufactured textiles. The benefit for importers is that if any garment uses Doubletex products such as fabrics, wadding, quilting, laminating, interlinings or linings, then the garment qualifies for duty relief.

As we move from planning to implementation, Doubletex will be able to offer our products to you either from our inventory in Canada (as we do now) or, where programs warrant, to offer “just-in-time” inventory planning, by warehousing our Canadian made textiles in other locations around the world.
